1. OPERATION OVERVIEW
The Los Santos Sheriff's Department Traffic Services Detail announces the launch of a focused impaired driving enforcement initiative:

OPERATION RIDE SOBER

This enforcement period will take place:

3RD MAY 1997 — 10TH MAY 1997

Operation Ride Sober is a proactive public safety campaign aimed at reducing impaired driving, preventing traffic collisions, and protecting the residents and visitors of Los Santos.

During this operation, deputies will conduct highly visible traffic enforcement designed to deter drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol or drugs.




2. ENFORCEMENT ACTIVITIES
Members of the Traffic Services Detail will deploy additional personnel throughout the jurisdiction. The public should expect increased enforcement presence including:
  • DUI / Driver License Checkpoints
  • Saturation Patrol Operations
  • Traffic Safety Stops
  • High-visibility patrols during evening and late-night hours
  • Focused enforcement in collision-prone areas and entertainment districts
Checkpoint operations allow deputies to briefly stop vehicles passing through designated locations to ensure roadway safety and driver compliance with traffic laws.

Motorists traveling through checkpoints may be subject to:
  • Temporary vehicle stops
  • Driver license and registration verification
  • Observation for signs of impairment
  • Secondary screening when indicators of impairment are present
Deputies may take further enforcement action when violations of law are identified. Cooperation with deputies helps ensure the safety and efficiency of these operations.
