21. BACKGROUND STORY
Pernell is a son of Jacqueline and Anthony Wallace, born on the 21. of April, in 1975. in Idlewood, Los Santos. He grew up in the rough environment of the Crystal Gardens projects, where he was shaped by constant street tension, and between the rival gangs. His childhood took a harsh turn at the age of 11. when his mother died in a car accident, leaving Pernell to be raised only by his father. Despite the tragic loss, Pernell managed to stay on track. He finished South Central Elementary and later attended East Los Santos High School, where he proved himself to be a solid student, maintaining mostly B+ grades. He wasn’t a troublemaker, but growing up in Idlewood meant that he couldn’t stay completely untouched by the influence of the street. After graduating, Pernell took a job as a pizza delivery driver for the Pizza Stacks Co., trying to earn enough for the honest living. After being falsely accused for the robbery which happened in the December 1995., Pernell got fired, and in the same time - gang violence escalated to that measure , that he had to leave Crystal Gardens along with his father, and move towards the 107th street. Failing to make the ends meet, and being hopeless and desperate, Pernell made a horrible decision - to attemp a robbery of the Market Donut Shop. Luckily for him, and by the good grace of LSPD officer James Brooks and Marcus Wallace, he was only charged with the petty theft. Being overwhelmed by their good will and the compassion to his situation, Pernell is now trying to pursue a better future for himself and his father. After finding out that the LSPD applications are currently closed, Pernell decided to apply for the LSSD, since both services are there to keep the peace on the street, and to protect and serve the citizens of the Los Santos.

Dear Mr. Wallace,

We have evaluated your application and qualifications for the position of Deputy Sheriff Trainee.

Pursuant to personnel guidelines and hiring standards of the County of Los Santos, we would like to offer you a conditional offer of employment at the sworn title of Deputy Sheriff Trainee.

Any request for refusal of this offer must be in writing and received by Training Bureau Command within three (3) business days from the postmark date of this letter.

You will be sent further correspondence explaining the process of your academy training further.

(( Your character will undergo a 22-week academy, after which they will spend a period of at least one (1) year assigned to a correctional facility within Los Santos County (e.g., Men's Central Jail, Twin Towers Correctional Facility) run by the department.

Following this period, you will be placed on a list for assignment to a patrol station based on your preference, and you will be assigned within approximately one to two (1–2) years. As you begin our Field Training Program, keep in mind that you are not a complete rookie, but a fully sworn deputy who has already spent at least one year working within a correctional environment.

Prior to your assignment to a patrol station, you would likely attend refresher courses to prepare yourself for field duties. If you have any further questions, please contact Training Bureau Command. ))

Sincerely,
Daryl Bratton, Sheriff
