21. BACKGROUND STORY
Spoiler

Cornell Yards was born on 1972/07/04 and raised in Vinewood, Los Santos. He grew up in a family that respected hard work, discipline, and public service. His father served as a Sergeant in the Los Santos Sheriff’s Department, and Cornell looked up to him from a young age. He often heard stories about helping people, protecting neighborhoods, and the responsibility that came with wearing the badge. Those stories gave Cornell respect for law enforcement early in life.
His life changed when both of his parents passed away while he was still young. After their deaths, the only close family he had left was his little sister. With no one else to depend on, Cornell stepped up and helped raise her. He balanced school, work, and home responsibilities while making sure she was safe and cared for. Those years forced him to mature quickly and taught him patience, leadership, and responsibility.
Even with personal struggles, Cornell stayed focused on building a better future. After finishing high school, he attended university and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. He chose that field because of his long interest in law enforcement and because he wanted to follow the example his father left behind. His studies gave him knowledge of the justice system, communication skills, and a stronger understanding of public service.
After graduating, Cornell decided to apply to the Los Santos Sheriff’s Department. His father’s service was the main reason he chose LSSD over any other agency. Joining the same department is a way to honor his father’s legacy and continue what he started. Cornell also believes the department’s strong structure, teamwork, and connection with the community make it the right place for him.
For Cornell, joining LSSD is more than finding a career. It is about supporting his sister, serving the city he grew up in, and carrying on the name and values his father left behind.
